Musk Companies Drop Antitrust Claims Against Apple Over AI Integration

Elon Musk's X Corp and SpaceXAI have dropped their antitrust claims against Apple in a lawsuit accusing the iPhone maker of restricting competition in smartphones and generative AI chatbots. The companies are still pursuing their claims against OpenAI, but this move removes one legal headache for Apple.

The lawsuit alleged that Apple's integration of OpenAI's ChatGPT into its Apple Intelligence features on iPhones and other devices was exclusive and helped the company protect its market position. Apple denied wrongdoing, saying its relationship with OpenAI was not exclusive.

Apple has been evolving its AI strategy, launching Siri AI in beta this month as part of the next generation of Apple Intelligence. The company's new Apple Foundation Models were developed in collaboration with Google and its Gemini models, while ChatGPT remains available to users as an extension within Siri.
