Musk Concedes Grok Trails Behind Anthropic and OpenAI AI Models

Elon Musk has acknowledged that his company's AI models, Grok, trail behind those of Anthropic and OpenAI in recent rankings. The rankings, which were shared on X by a user, show that Grok 4.6 and 4.7 are below the top-ranked model, Opus 5.5 from Anthropic, while Grok 4.5 falls even further down the list. Musk called the rankings 'accurate' but added the caveat 'for now.'

In a recent post on X, Musk said that SpaceXAI could reach 'pole position' in about six months and ship a 'Fable/GPT-6 level model' within two to three months. Deepwater's Gene Munster has separately predicted that Grok 5 could become the most useful engineering tool in history once trained on SpaceX's data.

SpaceX's stock closed 0.44% higher at $148.68 on Friday and gained 0.05% in extended trading, according to Benzinga Pro. The company is racing to ship its Gemini 4 model, which DeepMind's Koray Kavukcuoglu said would launch 'much earlier' than year-end.

Google's four Gemini models are separated from the main tier system and placed at the bottom of the chart in their own category. Meta Platforms Inc.'s Muse is putting pressure on Gemini's consumer positioning, which could impact its performance in the market.
