NASA Boosts Support for Troubled Boeing Space Capsule

NASA has thrown its support behind Boeing's Starliner capsule to get it flying again after a string of problems in 2024. The agency is providing extra funding and resources to fix the issues, which forced the capsule's two test pilots to remain on the International Space Station for nearly a year.

The NASA Administrator, Jared Isaacman, announced that Boeing should be ready to launch a new Starliner mission by December, with cargo but no crew. However, astronauts will not board the capsule until 2028 due to ongoing safety redesigns.

NASA's Manager Dana Weigel emphasized that all problems must be resolved before putting astronauts on board again. NASA astronaut Woody Hoburg, who will command the next Starliner flight, expressed confidence in the progress made so far.
