NASA to Reveal Fate of Boeing's Struggling Starliner Spacecraft

NASA is set to hold a live news conference tomorrow at its Kennedy Space Center in Florida to discuss the future of Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. The event will feature leadership from NASA and Boeing, including NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and John Mulholland, vice president and program manager of the Boeing Commercial Crew.

The news conference comes after a string of setbacks for the Starliner program, including a failed crewed mission in June 2024 that was aborted due to helium leaks and thruster problems. The mission, which aimed to dock with the International Space Station (ISS), ended up undocking months early and landing safely back on Earth.

NASA has already awarded SpaceX nearly $950 million for three crew rotation missions to the ISS, which are set to launch by 2028. However, it's reported that NASA is likely to award two more missions to Starliner as SpaceX considers retiring its Dragon spacecraft.
