Nest Thermosats' Long-Lasting Legacy Raises Concerns About Support

The Google Nest Thermostat has been a popular choice for smart home control since its release in 2012. According to owners on Reddit, the device can last at least eight years before requiring replacement, with some lasting between 10 and 12 years.

This means that if you buy a Nest thermostat, it should outlast Google's support period. The company acquired Nest in 2014 and has continued to update the device since then.

However, owners of older models may be affected by Google's decision to end support for these devices in 2026. This will render them unable to connect to the Google Home app or Google Nest Hub.
