NTSB Releases Preliminary Report on Fatal Plane Crash in Alaska

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its first preliminary report on the August 20 crash of a Cessna 441 near Cape Newenham, Alaska. The aircraft, registered N128EZ, was destroyed in the crash at about 11:45 a.m. Alaska daylight time.

The two pilots and six passengers were fatally injured. The plane was operating as an on-demand Part 135 air taxi flight at the time of the accident.

The NTSB stressed that the findings are preliminary and subject to change as the investigation continues. Several organizations, including the FAA, Security Aviation, Textron Aviation, Honeywell Aerospace, the U.S. Air Force, and the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, are participating in the investigation.
