Nvidia Trailers Heist Ends in Sand-Struck Disappointment for Thieves

Thieves targeting high-value cargo may have encountered their worst nightmare when they stole two trailers emblazoned with Nvidia logos. The haulers were owned by PlusAI, an autonomous truck startup collaborating with Nvidia on self-driving technology and AI software.

The trailers were supposed to be docked outside a warehouse half a mile away from the location where they were found, but a friend of a top executive spotted them near their workplace in Newark, California. The friend's congratulations to the exec raised suspicions since the company knew nothing about the trailers' whereabouts.

It appears that thieves hooked up the trailers to their own cabs and drove off before realizing their mistake. Upon breaking open the doors, they found 20,000 pounds of sand in each container instead of valuable Nvidia equipment. The heist has been reported to police, but no arrests have been made.

The incident is not an isolated case; a recent trend of truck heists has seen thieves targeting high-value cargo such as server switches and graphics cards. In June, California Highway Patrol recovered over $2.2 million in stolen merchandise, including eight pallets of Celestica server switches valued at $550,000.
