Oracle Stock Lags Behind Peers Amid AI Concerns and Balance Sheet Strains

Oracle's stock has been underperforming its peers, including Amazon, Microsoft, and Alphabet. The decline can be attributed to concerns over AI-related investments and the strain on Oracle's balance sheet due to heavy spending on AI infrastructure.

The company recently secured a major $7 billion contract with the Pentagon in July, which is set to last 10 years. Additionally, Oracle expanded its partnership with Alphabet by incorporating Google's Gemini AI models into its suite of enterprise applications.

These developments are seen as steps in the right direction for Oracle, but concerns over the company's reliance on OpenAI and the potential financial burden it may pose remain a concern. As noted by S&P Global Ratings, OpenAI could make up about half of Oracle's $638 billion in remaining performance obligations.
