Pinterest Names Amazon Veteran James Dibbo as New CFO
Pinterest has announced that James Dibbo, a longtime Amazon executive, will take over as its new chief financial officer (CFO) starting October 26. Dibbo will succeed Julia Brau Donnelly, who is leaving the company on October 30 to become the CFO of Sierra, a conversational AI platform. Dibbo has spent over five years at Amazon as the VP and CFO of global entertainment, advertising, and corporate development. Prior to Amazon, he served as CFO for P.F. Chang’s China Bistro and worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in London.
The transition comes at a pivotal time for Pinterest, as the company aims to attract new advertisers and users. CEO Bill Ready has emphasized the platform’s evolution into an AI-powered shopping assistant. Despite reaching a record 640 million global monthly active users in Q2, Pinterest reported a GAAP net loss of approximately $46.6 million, compared to a net income of $38.75 million in the same period last year.
In his new role, Dibbo will oversee Pinterest’s global finance organization, including finance, accounting, FP&A, investor relations, treasury, tax, and business and corporate development. His compensation package includes a $650,000 annual base salary and restricted stock unit awards valued at $19.98 million initially, with an additional $9 million expected in April 2027, pending approval.
CEO Bill Ready praised Dibbo’s experience, noting his ability to lead complex global businesses and his understanding of the intersection of consumer experience, shopping, advertising, and technology. Ready stated that Dibbo’s growth mindset and advertising expertise will be invaluable as Pinterest continues to enhance its platform for users and advertisers.
