Quantum Datacenter Alliance Forum Accelerates Path to Commercial Quantum Computing
The second Quantum Datacenter Alliance (QDA) Forum brought together leaders from classical and quantum computing to accelerate progress toward fault-tolerant quantum computing and its integration with high-performance computing (HPC) and AI infrastructures. Held at London’s Battersea Power Station, the event focused on the commercial deployment of quantum computers, with speakers from companies like NVIDIA, IBM, Coherent, Equinix, and Quantinuum sharing insights from real-world projects.
Key discussions revolved around integrating quantum hardware into existing data center infrastructure, emphasizing system-level architecture, control, error correction, interoperability, and power consumption. Attendees underscored the importance of collaboration, open sharing, and collective thinking to advance quantum technologies responsibly. Dr. Carmen Palacios-Berraquero of Nu Quantum highlighted the need for scalable, interoperable, and reliable quantum computing infrastructure.
Dame Wendy Hall discussed the challenges of communicating quantum computing’s benefits to non-technical audiences, while Hannah Boardman from the UK’s Department for Science, Innovation & Technology emphasized the value of cross-industry collaboration. Petrina Anne Steele of Equinix noted that hybrid infrastructure is already enabling commercial applications, such as high-precision molecular modeling and FX trading optimization.
Looking ahead, the QDA plans to continue driving progress through future forums and working groups, aiming to make quantum computing scalable and commercially viable.
