'Radiant Geometries' Exhibit Brings Indigenous Knowledge to the Forefront

The Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University is showcasing an exhibit called 'Radiant Geometries,' which explores the connections between mathematics, science, technology, and Indigenous knowledge systems. The exhibition features works by contemporary Indigenous and Latin American artists, including paintings, sculptures, textiles, video works, and site-specific commissions.

Associate curator Noor Alé said that the exhibit centers Indigenous ways of knowing, which continue to shape relationships with territories, waterways, and interspecies care. By reconsidering the histories of mathematics, architecture, and science through Indigenous perspectives, the exhibition invites viewers to consider the enduring connections between cosmology, technology, and the living world.

The exhibition includes works by artists such as Nanibah Chacon, Melissa Cody, Jordan Ann Craig, Patricia Domínguez, Sara Flores, Kite, Natalia Montoya Lecaros, Patrick Martinez, Cisco Merel, Caroline Monnet, and Eamon Ore-Giron. The exhibit also features newly commissioned works that extend its exploration of knowledge as an evolving technology.
