Salesforce Signs Major Carbon Removal Deals with Eight Early-Stage Suppliers

Software giant Salesforce has made significant strides in its efforts to combat climate change. In partnership with Sweden-based Milkywire, the company has signed a series of carbon removal deals with eight early-stage suppliers. These transactions are part of Salesforce's pledge as a founding member of the First Movers Coalition (FMC) to contract for $100 million in CO2 removal solutions by 2030.

The new commitments build on Salesforce's previous agreements with 19 early-stage suppliers announced in January 2026. According to Jamila Yamani, PhD, Director of Climate and Energy at Salesforce, the company backed these eight suppliers because each contract will help a pilot or demonstration unit get built, and each project will generate learnings that will inform future deployments across the industry.

The portfolio of pre-purchases encompasses over 3,600 tonnes of carbon removal and includes a range of methodologies such as ocean alkalinity enhancement, direct air capture, and biomass storage. Aidan J. Preston, PhD, Senior Impact Manager at Milkywire, emphasized that buying tomorrow's carbon removal solutions today is crucial for bringing down costs and building a sector that can scale.
