Salisbury Cathedral Hosts Pet Blessing Service

A special blessing service for pets and their owners took place at Salisbury Cathedral on September 19. The event, titled 'All Creatures Great and Small,' drew over 280 people and a diverse range of animals, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, chickens, goldfish, and even a caterpillar.

The Revd Ross Meikle led the service, highlighting the important role pets play in our lives. He noted that when we care for them, we become 'servants of God's creation' and experience joy through playtime. At the end of their life, we learn about death, grief, and the hope of reunion.

The service included readings, hymns, and music performed by Salisbury Cathedral's Girls Choir and Junior Choir. A performance of John Rutter's 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' was also featured.
