Samsung, Google, and Garmin Face New Patent Infringement Allegations

UnaliWear has filed a second US import complaint against Samsung, Google, and Garmin over alleged patent infringement related to wearable activity and health monitoring devices. The move comes despite their first case against these companies and Apple still moving through the system.

The original UnaliWear complaint in January 2026 centered around smartwatch fall detection. However, this new case does not appear to be an extension of the previous one, with a broader scope that could potentially impact various health features.

Notably, Apple is absent from the respondent list this time, which may suggest that the new allegations concern technology or products that differ from Apple's implementation. Alternatively, it could indicate a separate legal strategy being employed by UnaliWear.

The US International Trade Commission (USITC) has yet to decide whether to open a formal investigation into the matter, and no specific products have been identified as potentially infringing on UnaliWear's patents.
