Disney executive Eric Schrier is leaving his role as president of direct-to-consumer international originals, strategic programming and emerging media after 26 years at the company.

He will be launching a new production company under the Disney umbrella, which will continue to work with Disney Entertainment Television (DET) through a producing partnership.

Schrier was instrumental in the launch of FX alongside chairman John Landgraf and oversaw international content for Hulu and Disney+ at 20th Television before his restructuring to his current role in March.

His decision came after discussions with DET chairman Debra OConnell, who said Schrier wants to return to his creative roots.
