Society of Illustrators Announces 2026 Award Winners

The Society of Illustrators (SoI) has announced its list of award winners and Hall of Fame inductees for 2026. The news comes after the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists awards merged with SoI.

The Hamilton King Award, presented annually for the best work by a member of SoI, went to Anna and Elena Balbusso this year.

The Original Art Lifetime Achievement Awards recognize individuals who have made innovative contributions to children's book illustration. This year's honorees were David Wiesner and James Marshall, with Wiesner being recognized posthumously.

The Richard Gangel Award honors art directors who support and advance the art of illustration. Rodrigo Honeywell was named winner for 2026.

Other awards included The Distinguished Educator, which went to Matt Curtius, and The SI Impact Award, given to Rob Byrnes. Neena Phan won The Dilys Evans Founder's Award for her book 'The Lonely Fox.'
