Take-Two Sues for GTA 6 Leaks as Developer Hunts Down Cyberleek
Take-Two Interactive is taking drastic measures to track down a prolific leaker of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) footage. The company has filed subpoenas in federal district court, requesting Microsoft and Discord release records related to the online accounts posting and sharing leaks of the game.
The leaked clips started appearing on the internet several days ago ahead of a planned Netflix reveal for GTA 6. Take-Two is using the law to try to identify and stop the individual behind the leaks.
The company's petition asks for user data needed to identify the leaker, including 'all internal Microsoft business records and investigative records associated with Microsoft's internal investigation of the 'cyberleek' persona sufficient to identify the user(s), person(s) and/or entity/ies associated with that persona.'
Discord is also being asked to provide identifying information for all user accounts that interacted with a specific Discord server during a certain time period, as well as any device or telemetry records related to the 'cyberleek' persona.
