Ternus Lands $58 Million Apple Payday Amid Cook's Executive Chair Role
Apple's new Chief Executive Officer John Ternus is set to receive a compensation package worth $58 million in fiscal year 2027. This news comes after Apple disclosed its executive compensation details in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday, which marked the first day of Ternus' tenure as CEO.
Ternus will receive an annual base salary of $3 million, along with a stock award worth up to $55 million. The equity award will be split into two parts: 75% tied to Apple's performance relative to the S&P 500, and 25% consisting of time-based stock units that vest semiannually.
Outgoing CEO Tim Cook will also see a change in compensation as he moves to an executive chairman role. His annual salary will fall to $2 million from $3 million, but his 2027 stock award will have a target value of $45 million with half tied to Apple's performance relative to the S&P 500.
Cook's total compensation as CEO in 2025 was $74.3 million, and the value of the stock awards for both executives will fluctuate with Apple's share price.
