The Legacy of Mr. Home Depot
Larry McClanahan, a man of many skills and passions, passed away on September 22nd, 2026, at the age of 86. Born in Centerville, TN to Revo Jones McClanahan and Lottie (Shepherd) McClanahan, he moved with his family to East Point, Georgia during his teenage years.
After serving in the Navy for four years and later in the Navy Reserves, Larry worked at C&S Bank before joining his brother's business, Bud McClanahan, Inc. He also owned and operated the Fairburn Feed Store in Fairburn, GA, while running a thriving farm.
Larry was known as a devoted Fayette County school bus driver, where he safely transported students daily. In 1981, when McIntosh High School opened, Larry took on an additional role as the McIntosh Chief mascot, galloping across the football field at home games.
