Todd Combs, a former stockpicker at Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc., has been instrumental in directing around $5 billion in investments since joining JPMorgan Chase & Co. Combs now leads the bank’s strategic investment group, which focuses on sectors vital to national security. He revealed that his team has allocated funds to 10 firms, deploying roughly half of the capital initially allocated to them.
Speaking at the Grant’s Annual Fall Conference on Tuesday, Combs highlighted the flexibility of his group’s investment approach. “We can do early private, we can do late stage public, we can do anything and everything,” he stated, emphasizing the broad scope of their investment strategies.
The strategic investment group at JPMorgan Chase aims to support industries that are critical to national security, indicating a focus on sectors that may have long-term stability and growth potential. Combs’ background in stock picking and his experience at Berkshire Hathaway bring a unique perspective to his role at the bank.
