Trump Picks Qatar's Gifted Jet for Ireland Trip Despite Security Worries

President Donald Trump is set to use a Boeing 747 gifted by Qatar for his upcoming trip to Ireland, despite concerns over security features. The aircraft lacks some of the security measures installed on the modified Air Force One planes traditionally used for presidential travel.

The Qatari jet has been used for domestic flights since early July, but it was not used for Trump's return from Turkey in July due to a possible Iranian threat. In July, Trump said the aircraft would be sent for additional work and 'maxed out', but the administration has not disclosed when the upgrades will begin or how long they will take.

The US government has already spent around $400 million modifying the presidential aircraft. The White House maintains that security measures are in place to ensure the safety and reliability of the plane, but declined to discuss specific upgrades or modifications.
