Turkish Airlines Doubles Down on Boeing with Massive 737 MAX Order

Turkish Airlines has finalized an order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets in a deal that marks the airline's largest purchase of single-aisle aircraft. The agreement includes options for 50 additional 737 MAX jets, with substitution rights for the 737-10 variant. This will enable Turkish Airlines to serve more passengers on more routes and meet growing demand.

The airline has taken delivery of 100 Boeing 737-8 airplanes as part of the deal. The new aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to Turkish Airlines' operations, supporting its extensive network from its hub in Istanbul. 'This agreement marks another significant step in the continued expansion of our fleet,' said Prof Murat Şeker, Turkish Airlines chairman of the board and the executive committee.

The 737 MAX family reduces fuel use and emissions by 20% compared to the airplanes they replace, enabling lower operating costs and supporting Turkish Airlines' growth strategy. The airline's purchase builds on its previous order for up to 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in 2025 as part of its investment in fleet and network expansion.
