Twitch Streamers' Content Used for AI Training Without Consent

Twitch streamers' content will now be used by default to train generative AI models for Amazon's parent company, unless they opt out. This move has sparked a backlash from the Twitch community, with many creators expressing concerns that their content is being used without their knowledge or consent.

The change was announced on the official Twitch channel, where nearly 3,000 users were present to ask questions and express their opposition to the use of AI training. Twitch's Chief Product Officer Mike Minton explained that if the opt-out option had been made available first, it's unlikely that many creators would have chosen to participate.

Kish noted that this practice is not unique to Twitch, citing Meta as an example where public content from its platforms is used for AI training. However, Kish acknowledged that including an opt-out option on Twitch was a response to the community's concerns and desire to maintain control over their own content.

To opt out of AI training on Twitch, users can navigate to their channel settings, select the security and privacy tab, scroll down to the 'training for generative AI' option, and toggle it off.
