U.S. Stocks Plummet as Trump Rejects Iranian Ceasefire Offer
U.S. stocks struggled on Monday as tensions between the U.S. and Iran intensified following President Donald Trump's rejection of an Iranian offer for a seven-day ceasefire.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index (DJI) fell by -0.2%, while the benchmark S&P 500 was last down -0.3% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP:INDNVDA declined as well.
These losses came after President Trump rejected the Iranian offer, which had been made in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. The blue-chip Dow (DJI) and S&P 500 were both down on the day, while tech-focused Nasdaq Composite COMP:INDNVDA followed suit.
The U.S. Treasury yields also saw a slight increase, with the 10-year US10Y up 1 basis point to 2.02%, the 2-year US2Y rose 0.5% to -0.05%, and the 30-year US30Y increased by 1.25% to 2.55%. Meanwhile, the ARM index remained steady.
