Venice Considers Increasing Tourist Entry Fee
The Italian city of Venice is considering raising its tourist entry fee from €5 to €10 ($5.75-$11.50) to discourage day-trippers during the busiest periods.
Councilor for budget and taxation Michele Zuin said that the current fee is no longer sufficient to deter visitors, but the increase would need government approval before it can take effect in 2027.
In other travel news, Thailand has implemented new visa entry rules, reducing the maximum stay length from 60 to 30 days for tourists, although Americans and some other nationalities may face restrictions on land-border crossings.
