Walmart and Amazon Face FTC Probe Over Made in USA Labeling
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is considering an investigation into Walmart Inc. and Amazon regarding their handling of 'Made in the USA' labeling on products.
This follows concerns raised by Senators Tammy Baldwin and Rick Scott about the verification processes used by Walmart's Sparky and Amazon's Alexa AI chatbots, which a Columbia University study found have the capability to address these issues but choose not to.
The FTC had previously contacted both companies over similar concerns last year, and now the potential probe centers on the retail giants' failure to implement sufficient safeguards to prevent foreign-made products from being falsely labeled as 'Made in the USA.'
Walmart's current valuation suggests it is slightly overvalued by 2.3%, with its GF Value of $104.08 indicating a fair market price of around $106.48.
