Why I Went Back to My Pixel After Switching to a Samsung Galaxy

Dibakar Ghosh, a tech journalist at How-To Geek, recently swapped his Google Pixel for a Samsung Galaxy S24. He was initially excited to experience the features of the Galaxy series, but soon found himself missing certain functionalities from his old Pixel.

One major feature he missed was offline voice typing. As a writer, Ghosh prefers voice typing over traditional keyboard input due to its speed and accuracy. However, when using the Samsung Keyboard on the S24, he found that the transcriptions were noticeably less accurate than those on the Pixel. Moreover, voice typing required an internet connection to work properly, which often proved unreliable in areas with poor cellular coverage.

Ghosh also missed the haptics and adaptive vibrations of his old Pixel. The Galaxy's vibration motors felt too artificial and didn't blend well with the software experience. He particularly appreciated the Pixel-exclusive Adaptive Vibrations feature, which dynamically adjusted vibration strength based on surroundings.

Lastly, he found himself missing the Now Playing feature, which recognizes songs playing around you and displays the name on your lock screen. While not a deal-breaker, this feature's absence was noticeable during his time with the Galaxy.
