Zootopia 3 Takes Flight with Birds as Main Attraction

Disney's Zootopia franchise is expanding with Zootopia 3 in early development. During the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23, Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush shared an exclusive extended sequence that confirms birds will play a major role in the next installment.

Bush and other members of the cast and creative team, including stars Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan, discussed how the introduction of birds will bring new surprises to the franchise. Goodwin expressed her excitement about returning to the world of Zootopia, stating that it's a 'fun surprise' for fans.

Quan joked about his character, Gary the snake, possibly becoming friends with the birds in the movie. Yvett Merino, who produced Zootopia 2, mentioned that subverting expectations about different species interacting is what makes the world of Zootopia so interesting.

Clark Spencer, President of Disney Animation, emphasized that the franchise will continue to explore new aspects of the predator-prey relationship and expand the world. Byron Howard, who directed the first two Zootopia films, noted that the sequels aim to take the characters to new levels and deliver something even better.
