Barret Zoph, co-founder of Thinking Machines Lab, is making a significant move to Google's DeepMind. He will take on the role of Vice President of Research at the company. This change comes after serving as Vice President of Research at OpenAI and a brief return to his former employer earlier this year.

Zoph spent six years with Google as a research scientist in Google Brain before it was merged with DeepMind in 2023, forming the current unit under Alphabet's umbrella. The move is part of a series of AI-driven reshuffles at the company, including DeepMind CEO Dennis Hassabis stepping aside this month.
