Global Energy Crisis Reaches Fever Pitch, Minister Warns

Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has warned that the world is facing an unprecedented global energy crisis, describing it as a 'perfect storm'. The current market turmoil eclipses historical shocks like past oil embargoes and the 9/11 attacks, he said.

The crisis is defined by production bottlenecks, with Bayraktar pointing out that while oil prices are typically dictated by supply and demand, the current environment is strictly about supply problems. He cited wars and crises as the source of these issues.

Bayraktar emphasized that despite intense geopolitical pressures, Turkey has successfully insulated its domestic energy supplies. However, he noted that global markets face a huge decrease in supply, while demand continues to increase, leading to higher prices.
