Iran Denies US Claim on Oil Transport Through Strait of Hormuz

Iran's armed forces have denied claims made by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) that American forces have supported the transport of over 1 billion barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz in recent months.

Senior spokesman for Iran's armed forces, Abolfazl Shekarchi, described the claim as 'false and ridiculous.'

Shekarchi accused CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper of making a 'projection' to boost the morale of US forces in the region and justify the financial costs and casualties incurred by the United States.

The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway that connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman, and its closure or restriction would have significant economic implications for oil exports.
