Ontario Farmers Set to Harvest Record-Breaking Corn Crop in 2026

Ontario farmers are expected to harvest a record-breaking crop in 2026, according to Statistics Canada's model-based crop estimate. The average corn yield will reach 186.2 bu/acre, resulting in a crop size of 10.4 million tonnes.

The soybean production is also expected to be higher than earlier forecasts, with Ontario farmers harvesting four million tonnes for soybeans this fall. This is up from the 2025 output of 3.6 million tonnes and an increase in exports during the first half of the crop year.

For wheat, lower prices are likely in the last half of the next crop year due to higher production in the Southern Hemisphere. The Ontario export offers for soft red winter wheat are discount to U.S. and French origin.
