The average price of domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) in the US rose to $194 per short ton, a $9 increase from last week, according to DTN's latest data. This upward trend is attributed partly to ethanol plant maintenance, which has led to lower plant production and higher demand for DDG.

The Energy Information Administration reported that overall US ethanol production averaged 1.028 million bpd in the week ending September 18, down from 71,000 bpd compared to last week and 5.9% lower than in the same week last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 962,000 bpd, down by 78,000 bpd from last week and 6.8% lower than in the same week last year.

The value of DDG relative to corn was 1.030%, while its value relative to soybean meal was 52.09%. The cost per unit of protein for DDG was $7.19 compared to $7.84 for soybean meal.
