$30 Million Campaign Targets Sherrod Brown in Ohio Senate Bid

Share

Fairshake, a crypto-backed super PAC, plans to spend $30 million on a campaign opposing former Senator Sherrod Brown's 2026 Ohio Senate bid. This move comes after the Senate failed to advance H.R. 3633, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, with a vote of 49-50 against cloture on September 15.

The vote was procedural and did not amount to final passage or rejection of the market-structure bill. Fairshake is linking the crypto industry's stalled legislative agenda to the next U.S. election cycle, putting congressional contests at the center of the industry's response.

In related news, the Blockchain Association is undergoing a leadership change. CEO Summer Mersinger will step down on October 16 and remain an advisor through the end of the year. Kristin Smith, the association's first employee when it launched in 2018, will take over as interim CEO on October 17.

Mersinger praised Smith for building the association from the ground up, saying 'Kristin built this Association from the ground up, and BA is in good hands.'
