ESMA Prioritizes Crypto Regulatory Compliance from 2027
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has announced its priorities for 2027, shifting focus from rulemaking to enforcement and standardizing oversight of crypto assets under MiCA.
This move is aimed at targeting market abuse and strengthening supervisory convergence with National Competent Authorities (NCAs).
Centralized exchanges, Centralized Alternative Trading Facilities (CATFs), and Decentralized Finance (DeFi) protocols including DEXs can expect intensified scrutiny from 2027 onwards.
This increased scrutiny is expected to raise compliance and security costs for these entities, potentially influencing token launches, fundraising, and adoption in the EU market.
