Ethereum Traders Clash Over How High Price Could Go Next
A Reddit discussion has exposed sharp divisions among traders over how high Ethereum's (ETH) price could go next. The disagreement centers on two issues: how far price could move after a breakout and whether expanding network activity translates into stronger value for ETH.
The discussion began with a post arguing that traders may underestimate the scale of a future move after prolonged price compression. Replies quickly widened the range of expectations, with some participants citing $15,420 as a possible target and others calculating that a $3 trillion market capitalization would place ETH near $24,500.
The skeptical side was equally visible, with some users rejecting the idea that long consolidation automatically strengthens a future breakout. Others argued that market capitalization offers a better comparison than token price and questioned Ethereum's valuation relative to Bitcoin. At press time, about 122.09 million tokens were circulating, giving Ethereum a market capitalization of roughly $326 billion.
Ethereum's network expansion provides measurable fundamental data, but the valuation investors attach to those fundamentals remains contested. A move from current prices to $5,000 would require an increase of about 87%, while reaching $10,000 would require ETH's price to approach four times its current value. Bullish participants are therefore debating how large an expansion could become after another record high.
