Solana ETFs Surge to Record Inflows Ahead of Alpenglow Upgrade
Investors poured $188.21 million into U.S. spot Solana exchange-traded funds last week, breaking the previous weekly inflow record. The influx of capital coincides with anticipation for the Alpenglow upgrade, which promises to slash transaction settlement times from approximately 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds.
The seven ETFs tracked by market data providers attracted net inflows every trading day from September 21 through September 25. Bitwise's Solana Staking ETF, BSOL, captured $128.46 million during the five-day stretch, representing about 68% of all inflows. Grayscale and Fidelity followed with $28.06 million and $17.59 million respectively.
Alpenglow is a major infrastructure upgrade developed by Anza, the engineering group responsible for Solana's core validator software. The upgrade will replace the network's legacy TowerBFT consensus engine with a new protocol called Votor, which allows validators to exchange votes directly instead of recording them as on-chain transactions.
