Warren Accuses Trump of Prioritizing Crypto Fortune Over American Interests
Senator Elizabeth Warren accused President Donald Trump of prioritizing his own financial interests over those of the American people. Warren pointed out that the Trump family 'made billions' from cryptocurrency ventures, including World Liberty Financial (WLFI) and the Official Trump (CRYPTO: TRUMP) memecoin.
According to Warren, the Trump family's involvement in cryptocurrency dealings complicated the passage of the CLARITY Act through Congress. The bill ultimately failed a key Senate vote after Warren and other critics argued that it lacked adequate ethics safeguards.
Warren's accusations come after Trump's 2025 financial disclosure showed he earned over $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency ventures, including $520 million from World Liberty Financial token sales and $635 million in royalties from the TRUMP memecoin.
The White House has rejected conflict-of-interest allegations, with a World Liberty Financial spokesperson stating that the banking charter in question will ensure 'permanent regulatory supervision' that will outlast the current Trump administration.
Warren's statement concluded by saying, 'Trump's not working for you. He's working for himself.'
