Agility Robotics Inc. is making history as the first dedicated humanoid robotics company to go public in the US. The Oregon-based startup began trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker “AGLT” after merging with Churchill Capital Corp. XI. The company now has approximately $465 million in hand before expenses, following a $201 million public investment in private equity led by Foxconn. Other notable backers include Nvidia Corp., Amazon.com Inc., and SoftBank Vision Fund 2.

Agility is part of a growing group of companies developing humanoid robots, machines designed to stand upright and move like humans. These robots have primarily been used in commercial settings such as warehouses and factories. While Chinese firm Unitree went public in Shanghai earlier this year, Agility is the first of its kind to list in the US.

The company, which employs around 400 people, is expanding its partnership with GXO Logistics Inc. to deploy its robots in more facilities. It is also working on a manufacturing pilot with AGCO Corp. Chief Executive Officer Peggy Johnson highlighted the broader implications of AI moving beyond the digital world into hardware, emphasizing the potential for intelligent robots to transform workplaces.
