BNP Paribas has signed a five-year deal with Google Cloud to expand its cloud infrastructure. The agreement, announced on September 24, 2026, will give the French bank access to Google's AI-optimized infrastructure and Gemini models.

The initial rollout will focus on the Corporate & Institutional Banking division, where AI agents will help teams prepare corporate credit memos. This is the first step in a broader plan to roll out Gemini agents across sales, trading, research, and financial structuring areas.

BNP Paribas has emphasized that it's not abandoning its own on-premise infrastructure, citing sensitive data such as medical records handled by the bank's insurance activities. The decision on where processing happens is determined by data type and operational criticality, not by available technology.
