Boeing Secures $20 Billion Contract for Next-Gen Navy Fighter Jet
Boeing has secured a $20 billion contract to develop the U.S. Navy's next-generation, carrier-based strike fighter jet, known as the Sixth-Generation F/A-XX Strike Fighter.
The contract marks Boeing's second consecutive major defense contract victory on fighter jets and is part of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program. The F/A-XX will provide advanced carrier-based power projection and will be interoperable with manned and unmanned platforms, including Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA).
The Sixth-Generation jet will revolutionize advancements in open mission systems architecture, advanced mission systems, and operational reach and capacity.
Boeing's president and CEO of Defense, Space & Security, Steve Parker, said that the company is ready to execute this critical program and deliver the platform beginning in the 2030s.
