Chevron Seismic Research Off Greece Set to Begin by Year-End
Chevron is set to begin seismic research in offshore areas off Greece by the end of this year, according to the country's energy ministry. The company acquired a 70% stake from Helleniq Energy in an offshore block southwest of the Ionian Sea earlier this year.
A Chevron-led consortium also holds exclusive lease agreements for gas exploration in three deep-sea blocks off the Peloponnese and Crete.
Seismic research is a crucial step in assessing hydrocarbon potential, but it does not necessarily indicate that drilling will occur. The energy ministry confirmed that the research would be carried out by year-end, but Chevron did not provide further details or respond to requests for comment.
