Copilot App Gets Its Own Browser: Will It Keep Users Trapped?

Microsoft is introducing an in-app browser for its Copilot app on Windows 11 and macOS. The feature allows links provided by the AI to be opened side-by-side with the chat, without leaving the app.

This change aims to keep more activity within the Copilot app, but has received negative feedback from some users who prefer opening links in their default web browser. Some Reddit users have expressed concern that this update will make them use Microsoft's Edge browser more often.

The in-app browser is based on Edge and is being rolled out as a broader rollout in late November, following an initial test period. Microsoft has not commented on the feature's purpose beyond stating its convenience for users who prefer to stay within the Copilot app.
