Disney Magic Takes Flight for Critically Ill Children
On September 15th, a chartered flight took off from Philadelphia, carrying 15 children with critical illnesses on a Make-A-Wish trip to Walt Disney World. The nonprofit organization grants wishes for children facing life-threatening conditions.
The travelers included 7-year-old Alonza Garvin, who has sickle cell disease and celebrated her birthday the day before the flight. According to Tamarah Garvin, Alonza's mother, the trip is a much-needed respite from hospital visits and ongoing medical treatments.
'She's a warrior for sure,' said Garvin of Northeast Philadelphia in a statement. 'She's my girl.'
The five-day itinerary features theme park visits, character meetups, and Disney fireworks. Jennifer Davis, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley, emphasized the event's focus on creating joyful memories during difficult times.
