Gemini's AI Calling Feature Rolls Out on Pixel 11

Google's Gemini AI assistant is getting a new feature called 'Call for me' that allows it to make phone calls autonomously. Users can initiate the call, and the AI will handle the conversation itself, providing information or making reservations as needed. The feature is currently available only in the US on the Pixel 11 with a US SIM and Google AI subscription.

The 'Call for me' feature was announced by Google on November 24, 2026, and it's not to be confused with their existing 'Agentic Calling' feature, which has been around since 2025. The new feature allows Gemini to check product availability, request quotes, make reservations, navigate phone menus, and wait on hold.

Before making a call, the app will show users which number is being dialed and what information Gemini will provide or request during the conversation. Users can follow the conversation through a live transcript or listen in, and they can take over the call at any time. After the call, Gemini provides a summary, and the transcript and recording are accessible in the Phone app.

Google mentions that transcripts are stored on their servers, while audio recordings are stored only on the device. Neither will be used to train AI models. It remains to be seen how businesses will react to such calls, especially at first. They may refuse to speak with an AI or ask to speak directly with the user.
