Google Warns Advertisers of Contact Form Security Vulnerability
Google has issued a warning to advertisers that its invalid traffic filters may not be effective in stopping bots from reaching their contact forms. According to Google's Help Centre page, the firm's anti-bot systems judge advertising clicks after the ad has shown, allowing bots to still fill out contact forms.
The onus is now on advertisers to implement additional security measures, such as reCAPTCHA and email confirmation links, to protect their contact forms from invalid submissions.
This development may be concerning for advertisers who rely on Google's anti-bot systems to safeguard their online presence. However, Google has emphasized that its filters are designed to prevent bots from engaging with ads in the first place, not necessarily stopping them from reaching contact forms.
