Huawei is accelerating its push into AI computing, releasing two new chips in 2027 to challenge Nvidia's dominance in the field. The Chinese technology giant plans to launch its 960DT chip in the first quarter of next year and the Ascend 960PR in the third quarter.

According to Rotating Chairman David Wang, this is an accelerated timeline from the company's previously disclosed roadmap. Huawei aims to narrow Nvidia's advantage by expanding domestic AI-computing capacity and developing systems that can compete with large GPU clusters used to train and run advanced models.

The company is also building UnifiedBus, an interconnect technology designed to allow large numbers of AI chips to operate together as one larger computing system. Huawei has developed 11 chips around UnifiedBus for its supernode and supercluster systems, which have already been shipped to over 370 customers.
