Lufthansa Group has placed an order for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10s, exercising options from an agreement signed with Boeing in December 2023. The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG approved the purchase on September 17, increasing the group's firm 737 MAX order to 60 aircraft.

The deliveries are scheduled to begin in the early 2030s, with the larger variant expected to provide greater seating capacity and reduce unit costs by approximately 20% compared to older A320-family jets. The company valued the 20-aircraft order at around US$3.4 billion at list prices.

Lufthansa Group had already assigned all 40 MAX 8s from the original order to Eurowings, its point-to-point airline, which will replace Airbus A319s and older A320-family jets. The company has not disclosed which airline will operate the newly ordered MAX 10s.
