Malaysia Aviation Group Poised to Order Ten Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners
Malaysia Aviation Group is on the cusp of ordering around ten Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, according to people familiar with the negotiations. The airline's parent company has been in talks with both Boeing and Airbus, but it appears that Boeing has emerged as the frontrunner by offering delivery slots starting from 2031.
GE Aviation is reportedly offering a more attractive engine package than Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc, which may have swayed Malaysia Aviation Group's decision. The new jets will replace seven leased Airbus A350s and provide additional capacity for growth.
The planned fleet switch has raised some eyebrows due to its potential implications on trade agreements between the US and Malaysia. Last year, US President Donald Trump announced a plan for Malaysia to acquire 30 Boeing jets, with options to purchase another 30 if exercised.
