Mbappé Signs with On Holding AG, Challenging NIKE and Adidas' Football Dominance

Kylian Mbappé, the World Cup's all-time leading goal scorer, has ended his nearly two-decade relationship with NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) and signed a deal with On Holding AG (NYSE:ONON), which plans to launch its first football products in 2027.

The deal makes Mbappé a global ambassador for On and allows him to collaborate directly with the company's product teams on footwear and apparel design, including the use of On's robot-assisted Lightspray production technology.

Financial terms were not released, but according to The Athletic, the deal includes an equity component in addition to cash, tying Mbappé's own financial upside directly to On's stock performance.

Evercore ISI analyst Michael Binetti called this a direct challenge to NIKE and adidas, which he described as having a near-monopoly in the football market. He stated that a significant investment in such a broad category should act as a solid near-term catalyst for On's stock.
